FRIED CARAWAY PANKO CHICKEN AND LEMON VANILLA BELGIAN WAFFLES WITH PEPPER AGAVE SYRUP RECIPE
Fried Caraway Chicken Batter Ingredients
2 chicken breasts, flattened and cut in half
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup AP flour
2 tablespoons caraway seeds
2 tablespoons paprika
1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon black pepper
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 cup panko bread crumbs
2 inches of vegetable oil in frying pan
Waffle Ingredients
2 eggs
2 cups AP flour
1 3/4 cups milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Syrup Ingredients
3/4 cup agave nectar
1 teaspoon Sambal Alek chili sauce
Instructions
Set up 3 bowls for battering chicken. In the first bowl, mix flour, caraway seeds, paprika, cayenne pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper. In the second bowl, the 2 beaten eggs. In the third bowl, panko bread crumbs. Set bowls aside. For the waffle batter, mix all the wet ingredients first, then mix in the dry ingredients. Get vegetable oil to frying stage at 325°F. While the pot of oil is reaching it’s frying temperature, coat each breast slice in flour first, then the egg bowl, then lastly in the panko bowl. Start heating waffle maker. When chicken fryer oil is ready, cook breasts for equal time for about 4 minutes. Make sure internal temperature is 165°F before eating. Set aside chicken breasts to drain extra oil. When waffle maker is ready, add appropriate amount of batter and cook for recommended waffle time (my waffle maker is 4 minutes or until green light turns off). Lastly, mix together the Sambal Alek chili sauce with the agave nectar for your syrup. To construct your chicken and waffles, you can add powdered sugar over the chicken and waffles, and before you add the syrup. Enjoy!
