BOOZY HOT CHOCOLATE

When someone says chocolate, I always think holidays. Something about it immediately takes me to that time of the year, no matter what season. I instantly equate chocolate to winter and hot beverages and desserts.

Heinen’s has a line of chocolate from Two Brothers that is simply unbelievable!

Why You’ll Love This Recipe:

  • Two Brother’s Chocolates has a large variety of chocolates, and the specific one used in this recipe is Dark Chocolate with Espresso Beans.

  • It’s absolutely simple and delicious, and takes no time at all. Just about 10 minutes.

  • What makes this boozy is up to you! I LOVE the pairing of chocolate and orange, and Grand Marnier has that orange flavor that I love to add here. Three ounces of this will totally enhance your hot chocolate experience!

  • I also use a different Two Brother’s chocolate for shavings on top the marshmallows. In this recipe, I used the Dark Chocolate with Sea Salt to top.

BOOZY HOT CHOCOLATE RECIPE

Prep Time: 10 min | Cook Time: 10 min | Serving Size: 3-4 cups

Ingredients

  • 4 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • 1 Two Brother’s Dark Chocolate with Espresso Beans bar, chopped up

  • 2 cups whole milk

  • 3 oz Grand Marnier

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

  • pinch of kosher salt

  • optional: marshmallows and more chocolate to shave for each cup

Instructions

Warm the milk in a medium saucepan over medium-low heat until it begins to barely simmer but not boil (watch for small bubbles around the edges).

Add in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and chopped chocolate and whisk until combined and smooth, about 5 minutes. There should be no remaining specks of chocolate, the color should turn from a pale tan to a milk chocolatey brown, and the bottom of your pan should be coated with the mixture.

Remove from the heat and add the remaining ingredients: liquor, vanilla extract, and salt.

Let sit to cool to a safe drinking temperature for about 5 minutes (still hot but not burning). Pour into mugs.

Top with your desired toppings. I used marshmallows and shaved chocolate!
