Boozy Hot Chocolate
BOOZY HOT CHOCOLATE
When someone says chocolate, I always think holidays. Something about it immediately takes me to that time of the year, no matter what season. I instantly equate chocolate to winter and hot beverages and desserts.
Heinen’s has a line of chocolate from Two Brothers that is simply unbelievable!
Why You’ll Love This Recipe:
Two Brother’s Chocolates has a large variety of chocolates, and the specific one used in this recipe is Dark Chocolate with Espresso Beans.
It’s absolutely simple and delicious, and takes no time at all. Just about 10 minutes.
What makes this boozy is up to you! I LOVE the pairing of chocolate and orange, and Grand Marnier has that orange flavor that I love to add here. Three ounces of this will totally enhance your hot chocolate experience!
I also use a different Two Brother’s chocolate for shavings on top the marshmallows. In this recipe, I used the Dark Chocolate with Sea Salt to top.
BOOZY HOT CHOCOLATE RECIPE
Prep Time: 10 min | Cook Time: 10 min | Serving Size: 3-4 cups
Ingredients
4 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 Two Brother’s Dark Chocolate with Espresso Beans bar, chopped up
2 cups whole milk
3 oz Grand Marnier
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
pinch of kosher salt
optional: marshmallows and more chocolate to shave for each cup
Instructions
Warm the milk in a medium saucepan over medium-low heat until it begins to barely simmer but not boil (watch for small bubbles around the edges).
Add in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and chopped chocolate and whisk until combined and smooth, about 5 minutes. There should be no remaining specks of chocolate, the color should turn from a pale tan to a milk chocolatey brown, and the bottom of your pan should be coated with the mixture.
Remove from the heat and add the remaining ingredients: liquor, vanilla extract, and salt.
Let sit to cool to a safe drinking temperature for about 5 minutes (still hot but not burning). Pour into mugs.
Top with your desired toppings. I used marshmallows and shaved chocolate!
